Implementing Regulated Restrictive Practices

When restrictive practices are needed, they must be handled with care, respect, and in line with NDIS guidelines. At TCH Care, we focus on keeping participants safe while ensuring their rights, dignity, and well-being are always protected.

Safe, Ethical, and Respectful Support for Restrictive Practices

Restrictive practices are only used when absolutely necessary to keep someone safe, and they must always follow NDIS regulations. These practices, such as physical, chemical, or environmental restraints, are strictly regulated under the NDIS to protect the rights, dignity, and well-being of participants. The goal is to reduce restrictions while ensuring safety and quality of life.

At TCH Care, we follow NDIS rules and best practices to provide ethical, compliant, and person-centered support. Our team works closely with participants, families, and behavior support specialists to create individualized strategies that promote choice, control, and safety—always treating individuals with dignity and respect.

What is Implementing Regulated Restrictive Practices?

Restrictive practices are measures used to keep you or your loved ones safe when there is a risk of harm. These may include physical restraints, chemical restraints (medication), environmental restrictions, or seclusion. Because these practices can limit a person’s rights, they are strictly regulated by the NDIS to ensure they are used only when necessary and in the safest, most ethical way possible.

At TCH Care, our goal is to minimize the use of restrictive practices while ensuring the well-being of each individual. We believe in supporting independence, choice, and quality of life—always with care and compassion. We take a careful and person-centered approach when implementing restrictive practices. Our team:
